Fibromyalgia
The primary symptoms of fibromyalgia (also known as FMS) include chronic widespread pain, fatigue in the muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. Other symptoms include disturbed sleep, stiffness and aches in the morning, headaches, numbness or tingling of the extremities and Willis-Ekbom disease (restless leg syndrome); a common condition affecting the nervous system associated with involuntary jerking of the legs and arms. Those suffering from FMS also report multiple tender points on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms and legs may hurt in response to touch or pressure.
Causes Of Fibromyalgia
The causes of Fibromyalgia are not fully understood. Some doctors and researchers take the view that it is the the result of chemical changes in the brain whilst some take the view that stress, infection, or injury is the most likely cause. A further theory is that abnormal sleep is the cause; not merely a symptom.
What is known for sure is that the condition is commonly seen in those with other diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus
Fibromyalgia and Foot Pain
Many of those suffering from fibromyalgia also report tired, sore and aching feet, making it very painful when they walk. Some say they can hardly walk for 10 minutes before their feet start hurting really badly. Indeed an Arthritis Research & Therapy study found that 50 percent of patients surveyed experience pain in their feet.
Many sufferers also have plantar fasciitis which causes their feet to burn with pins and needles even when rested.
